Why a Ministry?

We opted to structure as a Ministry to take Muddy Boots out of the public domain, which allows us to not only focus on promoting spirituality, but to run our organization in a way that aligns with our core values. To learn more about our beliefs and spiritual principles click the link below.

                                                                 Who we are...

Located on a small homestead in Clarksburg, Massachusetts, Muddy Boots Ministry is rooted in faith, farming and the beauty of the natural world. We raise rabbits and chickens for meat and eggs, cultivate fruits and vegetables and invite children to share in these experiences through our Summer Nature Program and School Year Program.

At Muddy Boots, much of our time is spent outdoors, embracing every season and type of weather. Being in nature allows children to experience a tangible manifestation of God's creation, fostering a deeper understanding of His power, beauty and intricate design through the observable world around them.

Children take part in meaningful hands-on experiences such as growing, harvesting and preparing their own meals. We believe that nourishing the body and mind with wholesome, homegrown food instills lifelong health and gratitude. Farming also teaches invaluable lessons-responsibility, patience, teamwork and respect for animals and the environment. Equally important, children are given the freedom to explore. Whether running wild, getting muddy, building forts, climbing trees, catching frogs and butterflies painting themselves in charcoal, doing penguin slides in the mud, or just laying in the grass to watch the clouds pass by, Un-structured time in nature is the heart  of our philosophy. It allows each child to follow their own curiosity and connect with the land in a meaningful way.

Our programs also offer guided activities such as bushcraft, fishing, arts and crafts, food preservation and plant/animal ID. Alongside these skills, we practice mindfullness, encouraging children to pause, notice and connect deeply to their own senses and to the world around them. As described in The Book of Nature Connection. “Mindfulness is the deliberate practice of tuning into your feelings and what your body is experiencing as you connect to the world around you.”

                                                              A Little About Me...

My name is Angela Alexander. I grew up on and now operate a small family farm in Clarksburg Massachusetts. As a child, I spent countless hours exploring the outdoors, digging for old bottles, rescuing wildlife, playing in the rain and mud, building forts, hiding in the wildflowers, catching snakes or bugs, and picking wild berries. These early experiences instilled in me a deep connection to the natural world and profoundly shaped my health, resilience and outlook on life. Now, as a wife and mother four, my faith has brought me opportunity.  I have come to appreciate how vital an untamed, nature-filled childhood can be for the well-being of both body and mind. Through my work, I hope to provide children with the opportunity to experience the beauty, freedom and wonder of the outdoors-away from classroom walls and glowing screens- immersing them instead in the living lessons that only nature can teach.

"...away from the walls of a school, away from the screens of electronics. To get them back outdoors where the best lessons are learned."
